First of all let me apologize for taking so long to type down a new blog, but I do have a full time job that is..well...full time! I had an amazing time this past weekend at a small event called Hotter'N Hell, if you haven't heard of it yet well.. its a bike riding event. Most people I tell about this they say "oh, so you take your motorcycle?" and I usually end up explaining that its a bike ride with a real bicycle and it consists of different levels of riding depending where you think you stand in you riding skill level; there is a 10k, 25mile, 50mile 100k, and 100mile. Its now been twice that I do the 100k(62.5miles) at this event, and this time I was not prepared for this, butk whether you trained or not it is still a good way to test yourself. If you are into riding or just want to experience the thrill of the ride then this is a must, check it out here.
Last night I headed to Deep Ellum in Dallas to see Com Truise and Active Child at the Prophet Bar which happens to be the old Tea Room from The Gypsy Tea Room. I happen to be a Com Truise fan and wanted to check out Active Child because of a live session they did for The Alternative Side.
The show was awesome, I arrived a few minutes before Com Truise came on and to my surprise it was a small show at a small very chill venue just the way they are suppose to be. Before this I had called some friends to kick it with me but since it was a last minute thing I had to embark on a journey of my own! I don't know if anybody has heard of Com, Airliner, Sarin Sunday, or one of his many aliases and incarnations. His music is highly influenced by Scifi. synth sounds and that new wave sound from the eighties, he also says that he grabs a lot of his influence from The Boards Of Canada, if you don't know who they are then get out from underneath that rock you live in cause they have been around since the early 90's. His songs also seem to take a lot from scifi films in particular the film THX-1138 from George Lukas pre Star Wars days. This is a trailer to the restored version of the film but I still like the 1971 trailer better.
Here is a video for his song "Fairlight" that was made by 10lbpicture that I think best represents Com Truise's music.
Im really glad I got a chance to see them at this small show because it really makes for appreciating the music and made me a new Active Child fan!
Here is a new track that I'm currently listening to by Com Truise:
OK, Bye!!!
